The serious part: what we do with your data (very little, and never for ads), then the terms of use of this site. Any question? Write to cedric@neoyume.com.

Who is responsible for your data

This site, Dear Vegan Traveller, is run by Cedric Rolando, a sole proprietor (個人事業主 / kojin jigyō) based in Tokyo, Japan ("we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal data described below.

For any question or to exercise your rights, write to cedric@neoyume.com.

This policy follows the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as well as Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI).

What we collect, and why

Newsletter signup ("Tokyo tips in your inbox")

When you enter your email address in the signup form, it is added to our mailing list at MailerLite, our newsletter provider, and you receive a welcome email. We use your address only to send you new addresses, konbini finds and Tokyo tips. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

Legal basis (GDPR): your consent (art. 6.1.a), given by ticking the checkbox in the signup form. You can withdraw it at any time.

Arrival Pack waitlist (closed)

The waitlist is closed. When it was open and you joined it, we received your email address and, if you choose to give them, your travel dates and what worries you about eating vegan in Tokyo. We use your email only to tell you if the pack comes out, and your answers to decide what it should cover.

Legal basis (GDPR): your consent (art. 6.1.a), given by ticking the checkbox provided for that purpose. You can withdraw it at any time.

Contact form

When you write to us through the contact form, we receive your name, your email address, the subject you chose and your message. We use them only to reply to you.

Legal basis (GDPR): our legitimate interest in answering the requests sent to us (art. 6.1.f).

Server logs

Our host keeps, for a short period, standard technical logs (IP address, browser, date and time, requested URL) to keep the site secure and diagnose issues.

Cookies and analytics

This site does not set any advertising cookie and uses no tracker. It does not need cookies to work, beyond whatever your browser stores locally for its own convenience (such as a remembered draft).

We use Vercel Web Analytics to see, in aggregate, which pages are visited. It is cookieless and does not collect personal data: it does not use a unique identifier and does not track you across sites (how it works).

Who we share your data with

We use a small number of processors. We never sell your data and never use it for advertising:

  • MailerLite: stores the newsletter list and sends the newsletter (privacy policy).
  • Web3Forms: relays the waitlist signups and contact messages into our mailbox (privacy policy).
  • Vercel Analytics: cookieless, aggregate visit statistics (privacy policy).
  • Our hosting provider: hosts the site's files and serves the pages you read.
  • Our email provider: stores and delivers the messages received at cedric@neoyume.com.

Transfers outside the European Union

We are based in Japan, so your data is transferred there. The European Commission recognizes Japan as providing an adequate level of protection. Some processors we use may be located elsewhere, including the United States; such transfers rely on standard contractual clauses and/or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where applicable.

How long we keep it

  • Email addresses and exchanges: up to 24 months after our last exchange, then deleted. You can ask for their deletion at any time.
  • Server logs: from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the host.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you can ask us at any time for:

  • access to the personal data we hold about you;
  • its correction or completion;
  • its erasure;
  • the restriction of its processing;
  • its portability;
  • to withdraw your consent or object to processing.

To exercise these rights, write to cedric@neoyume.com. We may ask you to verify your identity and we reply within one month. You can also file a complaint with your national data protection authority (in France, the CNIL at cnil.fr).

Children

This site is meant for adults; we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 15. If you believe a child has sent us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top of the page shows the latest revision.

Terms of Use

Please read these terms carefully before using the Dear Vegan Traveller website (the "Service"), run by Cedric Rolando. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you disagree with any part of them, please do not use the Service.

Intellectual property

The Service, its content, illustrations, photos, text, and features are and remain the exclusive property of Cedric Rolando – Dear Vegan Traveller. Unauthorized reproduction is prohibited.

Links to other sites

The Service may contain links to third-party sites (restaurants, maps, social media) that we do not control. We disclaim any responsibility for their content, privacy practices, or availability. We recommend reading their own terms before using them.

Suspension

We may suspend or discontinue access to the Service at any time, without notice, in particular in case of non-compliance with these terms.

Disclaimer of warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". Restaurant information (menus, prices, allergen details) reflects our personal experience at the time of our visit and may have changed since; always verify critical information directly with the establishment. We do not guarantee the Service is free of errors or always available, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Japanese law. This does not deprive consumers residing in the European Union of the mandatory protections they benefit from under the law of their country of residence. If a provision were found invalid, the others would remain in force.

Changes

We may modify these terms at any time. In case of a significant change, we will try to notify you at least 30 days in advance. By continuing to use the Service after they take effect, you accept the revised terms.
